The McBookie site offers a smooth online sports betting experience with some unique touches; it is powered by a big name in the industry, Victor Chandler, and is registered in Gibraltar.
As the name of the site suggests, it is primarily aimed at the Scottish betting market. As such, it features an extensive range of wagers on Scottish football as well as frequent promotions on other sports in the country or involving Scottish participants. Of course, it isn't limited to just events (or punters) North of the Border. You will find the likes of basketball, horse racing and even cricket odds from across the world on here.
The site provides not only all the usual sports betting markets but also offers In-Play options as well as links to a Casino and Live Casino. So all in all, McBookie is where you could carry out all of your sports wagering, live betting and casino gaming if you want to.
What is Unique About McBookie?
The fact that the site is so geared towards the Scottish betting market makes it a tempting place for any of Jock Tamson's bairns to place a wager or three, although this doesn't mean that punters from other countries are excluded.
The home page opens up with all of the big upcoming football games from across the world, such as the Champion's League ties. Below this, there is a comprehensive list of all the Scottish matches from across the 4 top leagues. This means that it is a great place to go and find out the odds on the latest Alloa, Dumbarton or Albion Rovers games. You can also place a wager on the non league games in Scotland, such as in the Highland League.
It is this very Scottish feel which makes McBookie unique and which could entice a lot of sports betting punters to give it a try.
Software Features
McBoookie was previously powered by Jenningsbet and was effectively a white label version of that site. Now it has moved over to Victor Chandler and offers a smart new appearance and a slick website.
The layout of the McBookie site is attractive and welcoming. As you might expect, the background is a patriotic blue colour. However, the site's designers have managed to restrain themselves enough to avoid giant saltires or anything else over the top on it. However the white that usually appears in the cross is not forgotten as it is used in the logo (which is complete with thistle) and the different tabs, leaving the visitor in no doubt that this is every bit a Scottish flag design.
It is easy to navigate around the site, with the sidebar giving fast access to the different sports and types of wager on offer. As well as the typical sports bets, you can also try out the live betting in the In Play section, which lets you place a wager on games which are currently being played. There are also links to the McBookie casino site and 3 different live casinos to try out too. The casino is available as a mobile gaming option.
The odds are very clearly displayed and the layout is clean and simple enough for you to find the sporting event you want and get the odds on offer right away.
Promotions and Bonus
You don't have to be Scottish to enjoy the McBookie site but in terms of the promotions it definitely helps. The new customers who open an account on the site get a £25 welcome bonus provided that they live in Scotland. This is verified by the address you use to get registered. While it is a great deal for Scottish players it does seem a bit tough on customers from elsewhere who like the site and are keen to bet on Scottish sporting events. Even Scottish punters who now live abroad won't get access to the free money if they don't have an address there.
Another interesting bonus up for grabs (offer available at time of writing the review) is the Coupon Buster deal. In this case, if you place a bet on a minimum of 5 football games and just 1 of them lets you down you get your stake returned up to £25.
There are also frequent promotions running for big Scottish sporting events such as the horse race meetings held there. If you try out the casino site you will find a range of bonuses available too, including a healthy £175 welcome bonus which isn't restricted to customers who live North of the Border.
Customer Support
It is easy to get hold of customer support agents if you ever need any assistance or want to ask a question. You can either send them an email or use the site's live chat option to resolve your issues.
Customer reviews
Mcbookie has proven to be one of our most popular bookmakers, proving that free bet size doesn’t determine the popularity of an operator. Presently they are rated out of 5 based on 2 reviews from our site users
Scottish sports finally put first
out of 5
“Sign up process was so easy and quick, if you blink you’ll miss it. I had no sooner signed up, and deposited, and before I knew it I was betting on, yes that’s right the Scottish Premier league of course. Once I had placed my bet, I sent the simple email to claim my bonus, and once my bet was settled I got an email with a voucher for my free £10. Great to see a site putting Scottish sport first, and all in all, the experience was a pretty good one. It wasn’t a bookie I had heard of in the past, however it will definitely be my bookmaker of choice from now on”

Good boomaker, but needs more markets
out of 5
“I used Mcbookie to have a bit of a gamble, and thought Mcbookie seemed like a good little site. I didn’t qualify for the bonus, as I am not Scottish, but I didn’t let that put me off. The site was very easy to navigate around, they had some good odds, and the betting process was straight forward and the payout was very fast. Yes, I WON. My only criticism, which was the reason I rated it a three, is that it perhaps needs some more varied markets if it is to compare with the big players. However, if you want to bet on mainstream events, it’s a spot on bookie.”
